A mattress gets used every night, but it is one of the few things in a home that rarely gets cleaned. Sweat, spills, dust and the occasional accident from a child or pet build up over months, and in Singapore’s humidity a mattress that is never aired can start to smell musty. Our mattress cleaning service lets you have your mattresses cleaned on the same visit as your regular or deep home clean, by the same Femme5 cleaners.

Mattress cleaning is priced per mattress, by size:

- King mattress: $120
Mattress cleaning is an add-on to a home cleaning or deep cleaning booking, so you pay the hourly cleaning rate for your home plus the mattress price. The table below shows the usual hours for each home type and every add-on we offer.

Two worked examples
- A 3-room flat, normal clean on a weekday, with one queen mattress: 3.5 hours at $25 is $87.50, plus $90 for the mattress, which comes to $177.50.
- A 4-room flat, deep clean on a weekday, with one king and one single mattress: 4 hours at $80 is $320, plus $120 and $70 for the mattresses, which comes to $510.

When a mattress clean is worth booking
- You can see stains or smell mustiness when you change the sheets, even though the bedding itself is clean.
- A newborn is on the way and you want the bedrooms fresh before the baby comes home. Many families pair this with a deep clean of the whole home. If you also need live-in help for those first weeks, see our confinement care placements.
- You are moving in or moving out, and the mattresses are staying or coming with you. Our move-in and move-out cleaning can include them.
- Someone in the home has been unwell in bed for a while, or a child has had night-time accidents.
- Your helper’s room is being refreshed. Ministry of Manpower guidelines list a mattress, pillow and blanket among the minimum items an employer provides for a live-in helper, and keeping that mattress clean is part of decent accommodation. You can read the MOM accommodation guidelines.
- It is part of a yearly spring clean, for example before Chinese New Year, Hari Raya or Deepavali.
What to tell us when you book
A little information up front helps us plan the visit properly:
- How many mattresses there are, and the size of each one (single, queen or king).
- The type of mattress if you know it, such as spring, foam or latex, and whether it has a removable cover.
- Any specific stains or smells you want us to focus on.
- Whether the mattress is on a bed frame, a divan or the floor, and if anything heavy sits around it.
- Whether you want the rest of the home cleaned on the same visit, and whether that should be a normal or a deep clean.
What mattress cleaning does not cover
We clean mattresses; we do not repair, restore or dispose of them, and we do not carry out pest control. If you suspect bed bugs, deal with the infestation first; our guide on getting rid of bed bugs explains the signs and when to call a licensed pest control company.
Getting the bedroom ready
- Strip the bed before we arrive: sheets, pillowcases, mattress protector and toppers. Wash them while we work so everything goes back on fresh.
- Clear the floor around the bed and move small furniture, so the whole mattress can be reached.
- Open the windows or switch on a fan to keep the room ventilated during and after the clean.
- Ask us how long to wait before making the bed again, as this depends on the mattress and the stains treated.
- Let us know about pets, and keep young children out of the room until the job is done.
Keeping a mattress fresh between cleans
A professional clean once or twice a year goes a long way, but a few habits keep a mattress in good shape in between:
- Use a washable mattress protector and wash it with the sheets. It is far easier to clean a protector than the mattress underneath.
- Air the room. Singapore’s humidity encourages musty smells and mould. Open the windows on dry days and leave the bed unmade for a while in the morning. Our guide to reducing humidity at home has more ideas.
- Vacuum the surface every month or so with an upholstery attachment, including the seams and edges.
- Deal with spills straight away. Blot, do not rub, and avoid soaking the mattress, because moisture trapped inside is hard to dry out.
- Rotate or flip the mattress if the manufacturer recommends it, to spread the wear.
