Sofa cleaning for Singapore homes
The sofa is where a family eats snacks, naps, plays and watches television, so it collects more than most furniture: food crumbs and spills, sweat and body oils, pet hair, and dust that settles deep into the fabric. In Singapore’s heat and humidity, a sofa that is never properly cleaned can also start to smell stale. Our sofa cleaning service gives your sofas, armchairs and ottomans a thorough clean at home, so you do not have to move anything out.
This page explains when a sofa clean is worth booking, how pricing works, what to tell us beforehand and how to keep upholstery fresh between cleans.
When to book a sofa clean
- You can see it. Darker patches on the armrests and headrests, rings from old spills, or a seat that looks dull compared with the back cushions.
- You can smell it. A stale or musty smell that does not go away after airing the room.
- A baby is on the way, or a toddler has started climbing and sitting on everything. If you also need live-in help for the newborn weeks, see our confinement care placements.
- You have pets that are allowed on the furniture.
- You are moving in or out, especially with a furnished rental where the sofa stays behind. Our move-in and move-out cleaning can be booked on the same visit.
- Before a festive season, when the living room is about to fill with guests.
Sofa cleaning prices
Sofas vary a great deal in size, fabric and condition, so we quote each job rather than use a single fixed price. The quote depends on:
- the number of seats, and whether there are armchairs, ottomans or loose cushions to include;
- the material, for example fabric, microfibre or leather;
- how heavily soiled it is, and whether there are particular stains or odours to treat.
Send us a photo of the sofa, its size and any stains you are worried about, and we will reply with a clear quote before anything is booked. Sofa cleaning can be combined with a regular home clean or a full deep clean, and you can add mattress cleaning to the same visit.
What to tell us before the visit
- The care label. Most sofas have a label under a cushion or on the base with the fabric type and cleaning code. A photo of it helps us plan.
- The material. Leather and faux leather need a different approach from fabric, and delicate fabrics such as velvet or linen need more care.
- Stains and their cause if you know it, such as coffee, curry, ink or a pet accident, and how long they have been there.
- Anything already tried. Home stain removers can set some stains or leave residue, so tell us what has been used.
- Removable covers. If the covers can be machine washed, it may be simpler to wash them yourself and have us clean the frame and cushions.
What sofa cleaning does not cover
We clean upholstery; we do not repair, reupholster or recolour furniture, and we do not carry out pest control. Some stains, especially old ones or dye transfer, may not come out completely, and we will tell you honestly what to expect before we start.
Getting the living room ready
- Clear the sofa of throws, cushions you want kept separate, toys and anything stored underneath.
- Move small furniture such as coffee tables and side tables away from the sofa if you can.
- Keep the room ventilated with windows open or fans on, during and after the clean.
- Ask us how long to wait before sitting on the sofa again, and keep children and pets off it until then.
Reading the care label
Many sofa manufacturers print a cleaning code on the care label, and it is worth checking before you treat any stain yourself. The common codes are:
- W: water-based cleaning is suitable.
- S: solvent-based cleaning only; water may leave rings or shrink the fabric.
- WS or SW: either water-based or solvent-based cleaning can be used.
- X: vacuum or brush only; do not use water or solvents.
Not every sofa has a code, and labels sometimes go missing. If yours has none, test any product on a hidden spot such as the back or underside first, or ask us before you try anything.
What your helper can do, and what to book in
If you have a live-in helper, she can keep the sofa in good shape day to day: vacuuming it weekly, plumping and turning the cushions, washing throws and covers that are machine washable, and blotting spills as soon as they happen. Show her the care label and agree which products she may use, so a well-meant scrub does not set a stain or damage the fabric.
A periodic professional clean then deals with what everyday care cannot reach: the grime that builds up in the fabric over months, odours, and stubborn stains. If you are thinking about live-in help for the whole home, see our full-time helpers, or book part-time help for regular cleaning without a live-in arrangement.
Keeping your sofa fresh between cleans
- Vacuum it weekly with an upholstery attachment, including the crevices and under the seat cushions where crumbs collect.
- Blot spills immediately. Press with a clean, dry cloth and do not rub, which pushes the stain deeper and roughens the fabric.
- Turn and swap cushions regularly so they wear evenly.
- Use washable throws on the seats most used by children or pets.
- Keep it out of strong sun, which fades fabric and dries out leather.
For methods you can use yourself, see our guides on cleaning a fabric sofa and caring for a leather sofa. With any product, test it on a hidden spot first, ventilate the room, and never mix bleach with ammonia or acidic cleaners, as the combination can release harmful fumes.

Frequently asked questions
How much does sofa cleaning cost?
We quote each sofa by its size, material and condition. Send us a photo, the number of seats and any stains, and we will reply with a clear quote before booking.
Do you clean leather sofas?
Tell us the material when you ask for a quote. Leather and faux leather need a different approach from fabric, and we will advise what we can do for your sofa.
How often should a sofa be cleaned?
Once or twice a year suits most homes, with weekly vacuuming in between. Homes with young children or pets may want it done more often.
Can sofa cleaning be done with my home clean?
Yes. Sofa cleaning can be combined with a regular home clean or a deep clean, and mattress cleaning can be added to the same visit.
